丹麥首都哥本哈根市區克魯頓登文化中心咖啡館14日發生槍擊案，槍手是衝著瑞典藝術家威克斯（Lars Vilks）而來。威克斯曾於2007年將伊斯蘭教先知穆罕默德畫成人頭狗身，引發全球穆斯林抗議，之後更不斷收到死亡威脅，這次又幸運逃過一劫。
威克斯現年68歲，曾任挪威卑爾根國立藝術學院教授。他把穆罕默德畫成人頭狗身，最初是為了2007年7月瑞典當地一個藝術展所做的創作，但主辦單位擔心遭到穆斯林暴力攻擊，基於安全考量，撤下這些漫畫。
瑞典周報《納克人報》2007年8月18日在一篇討論表達自由的社論中，附帶刊出威克斯的其中一幅漫畫，引發國際關注，也觸怒穆斯林，埃及、伊朗、阿富汗、約旦和巴基斯坦等國都提出正式抗議。
死亡威脅也接二連三。「基地」恐怖組織相關團體懸賞10萬美元取威克斯的首級。2010年，有7名穆斯林因為涉嫌策畫暗殺他，在愛爾蘭被捕。同年，瑞典一對兄弟因涉嫌縱火焚燒威克斯在瑞典南部的寓所而被監禁。威克斯當時不在屋內，房屋也沒有嚴重受損。
2014年初，一名自稱「聖戰珍」的美國女子因密謀殺害威克斯，遭判刑10年。
威克斯曾說，從好的一面來看，追殺他的人都是業餘人士。他說：「我不是狂熱的種族主義者。我沒有政治立場。我是一個追求極限的藝術家。」
威克斯說：「如果一個人想談表達自由、伊斯蘭和穆斯林，那就必須做一些具有挑釁、踰越界線，足以激發爭論的事，我認為這非常重要。」
自法國《查理周刊》1月遭遇恐怖攻擊後，瑞典警方已加強對他的保護。
